    FI intake size reducer?

I have a NOS FI intake (aka baseplate) manifold which has the 3/4" to 5/8" reducer in the front heater hose outlet.
Is it possible to remove the reducer?
Would a Easy Out be the proper tool to use?
    Thanks,
    Bruce B

That reducer MAY be in place because the intake itself was too damaged to accept a fitting.

        Bruce,
I know it has been a few days and maybe you have resolved the issue by now but, I ran into the same issue a while back. On the one I had I was lucky enough that reducer stuck out just a bit.
What I ended up doing was I got a regular piece of pipe and screwed it in until it was about half way into the reducer. I actually had to grind the last few threads off the end of the pipe to get what it was I was looking for.

Anyway, then I had a partner of mine weld the inside of the reducer to the end of the pipe. He also touched a few spots on the outside too. He TIG welded it as TIG is much neater than MIG would have been. If I did it I would have MIG welded it, but there is a very good chance that would have just made a mess.

After he welded the two together, we got a torch and heated the aluminum a bit and then used a pipe wrench to pull the reducer. My partner used something he call "Quinch in a Can" Basically it was a cooling agent to help break the reducer free from the aluminum. The whole process worked great. It came out leaving the base plate in pretty good condition.

        Hope it helps,

        Monte

Monte & Loren thanks for the reply.
I had a buyer for the intake which is NOS and I told him if he wanted the adapter out it was up to him do do it after he bought the intake.

Bruce, The Reducer is Original my friend. Leave it alone. Glad you brought the subject up though as this reducer has always been a tad confusing to me throughout the years. It was used hap-hazardly on the C1 units. Some baseplates aka intakes have it and some don't.
Don't try and remove it as you might pull the threads in the aluminum. Been there.
The heater hose fitting is readily available from NAPA, etc.

              John,
              Thanks for the info.
Have a Merry Christmas and a very Happy New Year.
BTW, you need to go to Lakeland, FL and get away from the warm PA weather.
