    Flight judging tire question

On a mid-year, is Uniroyal considered an OEM brand (formerly U.S. Royal) for scoring purposes ?

Frank, I think that Joe S. maybe right in the last post you had with the battery and tires, It a standard deduct, it's 30 percent, OEM tires manufacturers that differ in considerably from original design. I would say that U. S Royal and Uniroyal are the same company they changed there name in the 60's sometime. I would think it could be the judges that make the final decision. You have a right to appeal the judges decision if you feel they are wrong. Team leader is next.

I would think it doesn't matter if it's the same company or not. If the name on the tire is non OEM, it's a deduct.

Why are you not contacting the Team Leader or the Chief Judge of the Meet to get an "official" answer?

Frank, from my research (and collective knowledge of a bunch of us 67 guys) US Royal changed name to Uniroyal at the beginning of 1967. Thus, for 67 I would expect to see a US Royal Tire on an early build 67. The latest 67 I have personally seen that still retained it's (presumed) original US Royal spare was built mid November of 1966. For a 63, I am going to assume that if you show your car with a Uniroyal it will get the appropriate deductions. I would hunt a US Royal. ARA

Ara, Frank is asking about modern day radials and the appropriate deductions for that. In the current Standard deduct table for Tires the 60% deduct reads "Current day OEM brand, service replacement size, bias or radial ply tires or current equivalent sizing designation and correct whitewall width" For this application, Uniroyal IS US Royal and the tires will receive a 60% deduct. See you in Lakeland!!!
