    muscle car museum in Florida...

Guys, I need a little help. I am planning a trip to the Tampa, FL area and want to include a trip to a GOOD muscle car museum. Something within 2-3 hours drive of Tampa. What do you recommend? Thanks! Bill

For what it's worth, Muscle Car City in Punta Gorda is definitely worth the visit. Make sure you leave yourself enough time to enjoy it

The wife and I are driving down to Florida tomorrow morning from Mass. We will be staying right in Punta Gorda and plan to see Teworgy's Muscle Car City. We are going to stop at Don Garlits Racing Museum in Ocala on the way down. NCRS Winter Event in Lakeland and the Mecum Auction in Kissimmee are also in our plans. Corvette Museum on the way home. Glad my wife puts up with this car thing !!!

            Guy,
Since I don't have time to make the trip to Ocala looks like Punta Gorda is where I am headed. Thank you all for the advise! Bill

That's a pity Billy, Big Daddy has one of the best museum in Fla.

I agree with Mike. I was at "Big Daddy's" several years ago. Great place. I'm going to be in Punta Gorda in May and plan to visit the museum there.

Punta Gorda is a nice visit, one vette for almost every year. Nothing enticing to buy at the gift shop (which lets you save some pocket change for Lakeland.)
Once you are south of Tampa traffic gets heavy. Drive safe

There is a small museum (mom & pop) in Tarpon Springs too....they sold me my '61 hardtop a few years back. At one time they had a 53, 54 and 55 all serial number 001 in their place: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wJnz4H2zaLM

Small but if you want some great Greek food from the area and to learn about sponge fishing and to buy souvenirs its a nice diversion.

If they had '53 #1, that would have been something to see! Is it possible that is was 55, 56, and 57 #1? Those three cars were assembled as part of a collection already by 1977. They were at the NCRS meet in Rockford then already.

Yes - you are correct; I pulled up my pic from back then and that's what they were (are?)
Should engage brain before keyboard as I want to see '53 #001 myself !
