Final Preparations Before 1967 Body Drop

'67 Convertible. Body drop today. A few questions...

1- Radiator support going in. There are shims on each side. Since support was installed with it's shims in place before body drop, should they show evidence of blackout on their edges? Also, were the four 5/16" diameter side bolts bolts holding the support in place before or after the undercoating and blackout process?

2- I'm planning to install the shifter and adjusted shift linkage before body drop, yes? Was this normal St Louis practice? I will remove the console shift boot and retainer so the tunnel opening is completely open. I have done 3 midyear body drops before, 2 on 2 '65's, and a '66, but for the life of me I can't recall the shifter status when we did them.

    Thanks,
    Rich

Keith, Sorry, I see why you thought I was talking about those lower bottom shims welded in. My wording may have been misleading.....

I mean side of the support, not side of the car. This car had 3 slotted shims at the left and right top sides of the support, and 1 lower left, 2 lower right. They are plated, and I need to understand if their edges are hit with blackout paint or left untouched. If blackout I can hit 'em later or hit em now with some blackout.

Rich, I would not want to be fumbling with the shifter linkage after body drop, make your adjustment now. I would agree with Keith blackout on shims since they were installed before blackout.
