So Long... after 35 years, 8 months

My '65 L76 K66 air tanker is heading south, first to restoration, then to never be seen again in a California collection. Hate to see her go. But I still have the late late 396 to keep me out of trouble.

Hope the Ferrari overhead doesn't have any oil leaks .

A neat, very rare car, I can see why a collector would want one. But you never know, it seems the collectors get bored and turn over their inventory pretty often, so I bet it comes up for sale again sometime.

What a great car. Very neat and rare. Would love to own one like it. Hope the car gets some use besides being garage art. Why the restoration?

I would also like to hear it. After many unsuccessful years looking for a C2 tanker, how do you find these unicorns?

Here's the classified ad in the Omaha (NE) newspaper that led a friend and I to go see the car. We were on our way from Calgary Alberta to Houston TX in January 1980, to deliver a Cadillac for a terminally ill co-worker, so couldn't waste time negotiating or puchasing. The nerve of the seller (AJ Roy III), asking more for a '65 than a much newer 1975 .

That's great, and they had lots of nice ones for sale then, unlike now.

Well, I sure wish it was headed to MY California garage I know you'll miss her, but will always look back with fond memories. BTW, what's all that white stuff?

                    Wayne,

Sorry to see it go, but glad to know you held on to the 396. Due to circumstances beyond my control I was not able to use mine much last year (about 400 miles), but hope this will change in 2016. Have be able to drive the '98 vert more and hope to hold on to both for as long as possible. Best wishes for a Happy and Healthy 2016 -- Carl

So Wayne, does this mean that there will no longer be a tanker Registry?? Oh Woe is me...
Oh well, we still have ours. Although if you know of anyone with 150 large.......

Rob, from my years in NE ND, I can tell you that cotton grows wild in that country this time of year...people harvest it and turn it into extra quilts for their beds.........

I guess they need the extra quilts to deal with the chill

Funny as I am selling my 70 LT-1 with 19000mi at BJ this January that I have had for just about the same amount of time. I bought it from the original owner in early 1980. I put about 600 mi. on it the whole time I have owned it.
