    carb restoration

    Well, I bought a correct dated 3721 last year for my 65 and then discovered that Daytona Parts no longer does carb restoration services. Anyone know of another reputable restoration / rebuild company ?
    Thanks in advance,
    JC

    There are lots of options and if you do a search on this forum you will find many opinions and good references. I had my tripower carbs restored last year and used Phil Cancilla (www.customrebuiltcarburetors.com) in New Jersey... not cheap but excellent work, good turn around time, no short cuts, proper plating, and well setup right out of the box with only minimal adjustments needed

        I used the factory repair restoration of Holley in Louisville for my Holley , They did a great job and the carb was factory dialed in, Bryan Hepper

                Gentlemen;

                I believe the OP said he bought a 3721. If that's the case, he has a Carter AFB and not a Holley. One of the rebuild specialists mentioned really buggered up a 3461s that I bought. He made good on it after a couple of back and forths to get a correct primary cluster and top plate with proper fresh air tube. Even the accelerator pump spring was missing and the pump leather was folded over. Took me quite awhile to sort it out as it had a bad lean surge which I finally corrected with re-bushing of the primary shaft. It was wore so bad that the transition slots uncovered differently from one throttle bore to the other.

                    Re: carb restoration

                    That sucks. Daytona Parts actually has all the old file cabinets from Carter with microfiche engineering drawings of every WCFB configuration....I've seen them personally. Good folks and quality work. I hope nothing happened to old Ron at that shop - he was source of great information.

                    Anyway, Chuck Smith is the other rebuilder I would use....also excellent...

                        Re: carb restoration

                        I emailed them to see what their turn around time was and to get a price. They emailed me back and said they no longer did restorations on carbs and actually gave me 2 different leads for people that did do resto's; Carb junky's and guaranteed carbs.com. After receiving this response, I posted up here to see who you guys recommended.

                          John;

                          I've had good luck with individual parts refurbishing and the re-bushing of a primary shaft from "All American Carburetors" in Orange Park, Florida (near me). Their finish of the top plates and main body AFB aluminum is much better than most others (believe it's their beading media), however, I don't like their plating which is over done and doesn't look original.

                          Many will not like me saying this, but some of the best rebuilds I have ever seen were the ones displayed by Chicago Corvette at Carlisle this year. I spent a lot of time inspecting the 3721's and 3461's and they were spot on - just exactly like new. I almost bought one.

                            So if we knew who was doing Chicago's carb resto's, we ( or I ) would be in business. Anybody know ?
