I purchased a Yingling Chevrolet plate frame for my 68 project. I believe the car was purchased there. The metal is pitted and deteriorating . Does anyone know of anyone that restores these. Thanks in advanced. Jeff. image.jpg

These are almost always pot metal and readily pit. I don't know of anyone that restores them. However, I'm just as interested as you if anyone knows of a source for this restoration since I have several originals from my selling dealer that I'd probably like to have restored in the future.

Jeff,
I have restored a 7 dealer frames.
Most were pitted. None were broken.
I had my plater re chrome them and
found a pinstriper to do the color application.
They came out great. I live in the Los Angeles
area. Try this in your area and see what results
you get.

You frame has broken lower right corner. This may change the ability (or cost) to restore; especially if you do not have the piece. You should discuss this with the restorer before shipping.

I just heard back from them. They said they can only chrome it the way it is. No repair. Bummer

You might be able to repair it using the low temperature welding rod available from the Cecil Muggy Company.

There are several advertisers in Hemmings that say they repair pot metal. I don't have experience with them.
