    LOL....

.....and the HW guy that says it's a SW problem, then the SW guy that says it's a HW problem.

At one career point I was both HW & SW. I always argued with myself.

      Richard,

I had the local Chevrolet dealer's service department look at my car. He was able to duplicate the 3 start and stop cycles after he reconnected the battery. After seeing this, he was convinced there had to be a remote start system installed somewhere on the car. He found a black wire under the console cover left and forward of the automatic transmission shift lever that he didn't think was originally on the car. He couldn't see where the wire went but was able to just touch an object with his finger that he suspected could be part of a remote start system.

I took the car home and lifted the console cover enough to see with a mirror a 2" square box with the words " extreme capacity relay satelite ". So I am comfortable that the remote start system was the reason for the starting episode.

Stan, I have seen sometimes the installer of the remote starter system will sometimes install a label under the hood and generally next to the battery to give a warning about the battery re-hook.

Interesting....Maybe there is in fact a Remote Start still in there.....

Just a hunch. Try this. Some Add-On units(I installed one in my '06 Chevy Pickup) use a double-pulse from the door lock button circuit to activate the remote start. Hit your door-lock button on the remote or on the door panel twice within 3 seconds and see if it attempts to start.

If it does, hit the door-lock button again, twice within 3 seconds and it should shut down the engine.

If you find it has one, there is a control box under the dash somewhere. If the installer was safety minded, there should also be a toggle switch somewhere to disable the system. There should also be a label as Ed mentioned, and in fact there should also be a hood pin switch to disable it if the hood is open. This is done to ensure anyone working on the car will be protected from a inadvertent remote startup. I have done many remote start systems on my own vehicles and those of friends, and I always add the safety switches and labels.

No safety labels to be found nor any hood latch switch (car starts with hood open). Door lock button on the remote or on the arm rest does not trigger a start. I think I need to find at least a safety label to place around the battery. Knowing what I know now, I would feel responsible if someone had a hand in the wrong place while someone else was connecting the battery. This is not a very pleasant thought.
