'57 Upper door panel rails

I'm missing the vinyl covered upper door panel rails on my '57. Does anyone have any experience with the reproduction rails that are made as far as quality and fit? I'm talking the metal ones, not the fiberglass ones. I can buy a repro set already covered with the foam and vinyl for just under $300. I have also found a set of originals for about that price, but they need to be stripped and recovered. I know it's usually better to buy original pieces, but I guess I'm at the point that if the fit is acceptable, I'd sure love to be able to just screw a couple of pieces on and be done. If the fit is not so great, though, the thought is to buy the originals I found so I at least have them.
