    Backyard Buddy Jack Use

Is anybody using a Backyard Buddy rolling hydraulic jack on their 2015 Corvette? I think I have a way to use the jack, but I'm wondering how other set up their jacks.

Not sure what a Buddy looks like but I have used a standard rolling jack and a low profile aluminum jack at the jacking points with no problem. I have not raised it on my 2 post lift yet.

looked it up. I have parked my 15 on my 4 post lift with no problem. My boarding ramps are about 2 feet long no rubbing.

Don, I too have a backyard buddy, I roll the jack all the way to the front, put down four race ramp flat stoppers. Then drive the car onto the flatstoppers. That gives me enough clearance to roll the jack anywhere you want. The only problem I had with this is the race ramp were kind of slick on the steel ramps. I glued truck mud flaps to the bottom of them to keep them from moving. Problem solved.

          Bill,

          This is a Backyard Buddy.

The jack I am talking about mounts between the wheel ramps and rolls the full length of the lift. If you don't have one of these my question won't make any sense, but thanks for trying to help.

            David,

Thanks a bunch. I did not think of using the ramps to raise the car high enough to roll the jack under the car to the correct position. I will try your suggestion.

What do C7 owners do once their car is lifted? An inquiring C3 owner wants to know.

                Mark,

My Backyard Buddy is used to stack two Corvettes, Rosalind and Jennifer, in a climate controlled garage bay that is now their home. I also use the lift to raise either car to a comfortable height to clean and wax, and to remove the wheels for a proper and very thorough cleaning a couple of times a year. Now that I have the lift I am much more likely to keep my cars clean because I don't need to bend over to do detail work.

Of course you could do the same with your C3 Corvette if you had a lift.

Donald I am in the lift business and we do installs for Backyard Buddy. I know what you are asking .
The jack should be low enough if rolled in the front of the lift to gain clearance. However I have not tried a rolling jack on a C7 . I think the question is if the arms extend enough to safely use the pick up points.
The lift brand I sell has arm extensions for the rolling jack which is needed for C6 and C7 , Porsche Lambo ,etc
I would check the wing span on the C7 from jack point to jack point and then check with BYB on how wide the rolling jack can pick up

                    Mark,

The jack contact pads are too wide, which presents an interesting problem. Adding the adjustable accessory bar to the jack does no good since it does not allow one to slide the pads closer together. I think I can purchase another rubber pad attachment and drive the car up on a couple of 2x12s to gain enough height to roll the jack under the lift points on the Corvette. Those rubber pads can then be slid inboard to the proper lift points.

                    What do you think?

                      Mark T.,

Update. I just spoke with Larry at Backyard Buddy. He informed me that I should use the Corvette attachment for C5 and newer Corvettes. Somehow I don't have that attachment, but they are sending me one free of charge.

                      Kudos to Backyard Buddy.

Donald let me know how this adapter works out. We just installed a BYB for a customer and he had the same problem with his Porsche and the rolling jack

same as you would do with any other corvette. oil change, inspect under carriage, clean and store a camaro car under the vette.
