1959 parking Brake switch location and adjustment

Took the switch off the PB housing and dis-assembled it to clean and lube the plunger and contacts. Not sure if it was in the original position on the housing or not, as the brass leaf spring seems to keep the plunger pushed down all the time. I read on other articles in the search that there is supposed to be a pin in the shaft that pushes against the brass leaf spring to de-activate the alarm when the brake is off. The switch on my car was located approx. 2-3" from the notched area on top of the housing nearest the front. The AIM shows it near the front of the housing. Anyone that can provide a picture and/or additional help will be appreciated. Al

Al, this is from my 62 and doubt if it has ever been moved or adjusted from the tube. Not sure if this is what you are looking for but hope it helps. Eric

Al, the switch is "open" or on anytime the parking brake lever is moved away from the full bottomed (brake off) position and completes the circuit to activate the warning light. You will know when the switch is positioned correctly as the pin will interrupt the electrical circuit when it depresses the contact to open the switch. You can do some simple tests on the bench to see if the switch is functioning properly with a couple of leads, and a test light. The position of the lever full down will dictate the correct placement of the switch in order for it to work properly Dan
