Photo needed: Carb linkage with Powerglide ('67 only)

I'm looking for photo(s) of the '67 327/300HP Powerglide accelerator rod & the upper kick-down linkage/rod to include spring & rod details. I can't make out the poor quality sketches in AIM or those in usual parts catalogs. For example, the LH ignition shield support with the extra square tab & specifically, where are the spring attachment points? Thanks in advance.

    Jeff -

These should be helpful - if you look closely, you can see the little tang for the spring on the spark plug wire support, and the hook on the crankcase vent pipe bracket. The second photo that shows the supports is a 4-speed, but they all used the same plug wire support and crankcase vent pipe.

          Hi John:

I'd like to try to clarify this a bit, but for some reason I can't seem to upload a photo today.

I have a '67 Powerglide Corvette, and in fact I think your first photo shows my engine with the springs configured for regular driving.

As I recall, the NCRS-correct arrangement uses two identical springs like the greenish one on the kickdown linkage. The second greenish spring connects from the tang on the vent bracket to the hole in the small rear-facing tang on the bottom of the carb throttle lever. In the photo, this location is very close to the ball stud used in the slot for the kickdown linkage.

Whew! The marked-up photo I prepared would have been much easier.

The reason I did not use the NCRS-correct configuration for regular driving was that it provided insufficient throttle return spring pressure for my taste. However, whenever the car was judged, I switched to the arrangement described above.

I believe that the sheet metal bracket that the black spring in the photo is using was present on the '67 smallblock Powerglide configuration, but this bracket had no spring attached to it.

Joe, my 67 300hp PG engine also has the bracket at the front like yours. I use both green springs attached at the back, however.

                Hi Al:

Good, this confirms my recollection of the NCRS-correct configuration.

Perhaps Al or Joe could post a correct "two green spring" picture (per my original post)? Thank you.

                    Hi Jeff:

I prepared the attached photo for my first response, but for some reason it would not upload. Tonight it uploaded fine.

I converted my Powerglide car to a Tremec 5-speed a few years ago, so I can't give you an exact photo of what you should have. However, the attached photo has yellow circles around the two spots where the second greenish spring attaches. The black spring in the photo is not installed on Powerglide cars.

As I noted in my earlier post, I felt that the NCRS-correct arrangement provided insufficient throttle return pressure, so for regular driving I used the configuration in the photo. For NCRS judging, I installed the second greenish spring and removed the black one.
