    Engine compartment blackout paint?

What is the currently acceptable paint for a C1 engine compartment , firewall , etc?
    Aerosol cans are preferred.
    Thanks,
    Bruce B

Try using GM part number 1050104 black. It was available from GM, but you may have to go to the aftermarket. It is ready to spray right out of the can. Not necessary to add lacquer thinner.

Note that the paint formula for JD BB changed several years ago. From those who have used both, the newer version is more glossy than desired.

            All,

My favorite is Seymour of Sycamore Semi-Gloss Black Lacquer for blackout and for just about anything else that came black. For metal surfaces that are very smooth, then gloss black can be used, but if they aren't very smooth, then, just as on the body paint, gloss black magnifies even the smallest imperfection. So, I stick with the semi-gloss for all less than perfect surfaces.

Bruce, I'll give you another choice, I used Dupli Color low gloss black engine paint, It sprays out nice and smooth and to me its looks great, If you want a pic. let me know I post it. I like the idea of it having a higher the normal temp because of the engine bay. I did my engine bay 4 years ago and looks great still, no flaking or peeling.
