1963 Steering Column Question

Can anyone tell me if the u-bolt and support (section 9 sheet 4) 1963 AIM part #1 and #4 are painted black on original cars. I am pretty sure the lower bracket is black just not sure about the clamp.

Just my 2 cents..... My AIM is buried I assume this is what you mean.

i don't believe the u-bolt itself, nor its nuts, were painted black.all 3 pieces were natural. at least not on the dozen or so c-2's i've disassembled and restored. the rest of the parts in the photos were painted black. mike

Mike, saying all three parts are natural do you mean the u-bolt, support and the two nuts or u-bolt and two nuts (three parts)?

the 3 natural finish parts are the u bolt and its two nuts with captive external tooth star washers . mike
