This vehicle has been judged at multiple regional and national events with no issues relating to engine pad. I have seen variations with respect to the engine suffix (depth and alignment) previously but maybe not this much. Any comments will be greatly appreciated, thanks and good day.

Re: 1969 engine pad
Pete, I Believe that the last two digits on the big block engine code suffix were hand stamped during that time frame??, not the same time as the rest of the assembly date stamp.New England chapter member, 63 Convert. 327/340- Chapter/Regional/national Top Flight, 72 coupe- chapter and regional Top Flight.- Top

Re: 1969 engine pad
Both the L and the Q look terrible to me. This is my stamp from an Oct 3 1968 Build Date. It has a slight ghost on the last three digits from a stamp bounce. Note the crispness of the flowing tail on the Q. I believe the engine date/configuration code was stamped complete. Do you have the block casing number and date? Dec 10 could be from 1968 or 1969, they had a long production year in 1969. You need to cross index the engine assembly date with the block casting date and block number, and compare that with the assembly date. I'm assuming the VINs match? "LO" engine code is for a 1969 L-88. Was that the attempt? IQ is for a 390HP for 1968. 1970 went to a 3 letter suffix.
P.S. Cross hatch is from my 1983 engine overhaul, long before I knew what broach marks were.
