The 1157NR (Natural Red glass; not painted glass) bulbs arrived yesterday.

    Likes:

    - Nice, rich red tail lamp color. Clear 1157 bulb behind the red tail lamp lens looks pale in comparison.
    - Directional and 4-way flashers work normally with these bulbs in the tail lamps, and the LED 3030 switchbacks in the front.

Downside: Not quite as bright as the clear 1157/2357 bulb behind the tail lamp lens. Close, but not quite. Maybe the red glass cuts the brightness a bit.

Mark, these are the 1157 bulbs (Plasma) that I bought for my '69 Cougar that are exclusive, I think, to Don's operation. When I sold the Cougar, I kept the bulbs and am using them in my '64, they work and look great.

Thanks Michael. I don't know what plasma LED means, but they physically looked similar to the JD ASTAR 3030 chipset lights. The 3030s are blindingly bright.

My problem is the flashers don't work with LEDs in the front and back. The electronic flasher I acquired didn't make a difference (maybe it was a dud), and I don't want to splice resisters in the harness.

So do the bulbs you mention flash properly?

I asked customer service at JD ASTAR why don't they offer LED replacement bulbs with the proper load/resistance so the flashers work. That would mitigate the need for an add-on harness with resisters they sell. They thought that was a good idea. (Did they really not think of that before?)

Yes they flash properly, no extra resistors or electronic flasher required, but I only have them in the rear, not the front too. I bought some LED lights about 6 years ago that were a mess and required all sorts of extra resistors and wiring, I had hoped they had been improved to work in the old cars circuit's, at least these are. My lights flash normally with LEDs in the front; incandescent in the rear. But not with LEDs front and rear.
