C 2 Windshield Washer adjustment for PV

Looking for tips for passing PV as it relates to C2 Windshield Washer adjustment. At present my washers are hitting the top stainless steel trim and some of my top. I've replaced my original washers with reproduction ones from Long Island and have the same issue. The originals have been reinstalled and seem a little better than the repops.

My washer pump was rebuilt by Joe Ray and puts out great pressure. I can hit another car parked alongside when adjusting these, but can't seem to just hit the vision area. My car is a 65 convertible. Open to ideas...

Can the pump pressure be restricted?

Do you have a NOS pair of washers for sale? If so send me a message.

Place a sewing needle in the outlet and rotate the ball to achieve the proper aim.

Stick a paper clip in the nozzle hole and adjust. They could be frozen in which case would need to be freed up first.

I appreciate the responses. I can adjust the nozzles the struggle is just hitting the vision area. The originals are adjustable and can be moved / adjusted just not perfectly. The PV book states hitting the roof or stainless is unacceptable (fail). The aim hits the vision area and splashes up onto the stainless and roof

Do the needle / paper clip deal. Then bent the sh*t out of the vent grille to make it spray in the right spot. ( lol)

I think John is saying they hit in the 'vision area' but then splash up to the stainless and roof. May sound goofy, but could you reduce the flow by using a paper clip on the hoses under the vent grill?

Just as an update. With the original windshield washers back in we shimmed the front edge of cowl up to change the trajectory. It helped and was less painful than bending the crap out of them. The washers are hitting the vision area, but still splashing onto the stainless and roof. The wipers are off so I put two microfiber towels on the windshield to absorb the fluid and the splash pretty much stops. Obviously that won't work for PV, but could make an interesting argument.

We tried paperclips on the lines and even needle nose pliers and still getting too much pressure. We are going to try inserting a smaller diameter hose inside the wiper hose to restrict fluid and see if that helps. Been an interesting challenge and thank you all for the feedback.

Any other C2 owners that have passed PV please weigh in on your experiences about your judging and washer operation.

                John,

Battled the same demons getting my 65 ready for PV in Bend in another month. A real pain in the A__.I to hit in the good view area and get some splash. i think that is the best we can do.

Never done a PV, but is the judging that stringent ?

I mean, heck, I follow modern cars sometimes who hit their washers and the juice shoots over their roof onto my windshield.

Yes its that stringent. If you have never done one its a little overwhelming the first time out. Knowing your car like the back of your hand will help significantly however there is still a little luck involved too. We are still talking about 50 year old cars.

Good luck John! If you have any questions feel free to shoot me a PM, we got our PV in Virginia in 2013.

                      John,

the stream should hit 10" from center of the window and 10" up. if it bounces from there it should not matter but if its a spray instead of a stream - that could be a problem. if unsure - contact the team leader and confirm.
