I'm making some last minute checks on my car before having it judged in June. The 73-74 TIM&JG says that all manual transmission cars are equipped with a transmission controlled vacuum advance system. To see if it is working properly, with motor running put the car in neutral after the engine is sufficiently warm to release the choke put the car in 4th gear and the distributor will receive full vacuum bumping up the idle. And the JG says this should also occur in 3rd gear after 20-30 sec. on the 73 with a manual transmission. Following this procedure on my car it only bumps up the idle in 4th gear and NOT in 3rd.
My question is- Is my system functioning properly, and is the TIM&JG in error here?
Hopefully I'll hear from you 73 guys.
