was able to get the manifold out through the bottom - passenger side no problem

used evaporust to clean up, and they did a good job - what i am left with, however, is something of a dark grey color - pictures elsewehere seem to show a lighter grey color - when they first came out of the evaporust they were more black - scrubbing with a nylon scrub brush got them to dark grey - is that what they are supposed to be? - i imagine if i took a wire wheel to it the color would brighten...but the point of the evaporust was to derust the surface without altering it - any thoughts?

I have used Evaporust on numerous parts although I have never used it on exhaust manifolds. All the parts do come out dark and I always clean up with Brillo or similar soap pads and the parts clean up perfectly. Try it on a part of the manifold that won't be seen and see what it does.

I guess the question i would have with a scouring pad is what would that do the finish of the metal - i have never had the car judged but it is pretty original and i went the evaporust route to try to keep the originality in case i get up the courage/patience/$ to go the ncrs judging route - does anyone have experience with a metal or nylon scouring pad and what it would do to the finish?
