    Voltage Regulator Ground and Screws

For a Nov 63 car/64 C2, my voltage regulator is mounted on the radiator support (not an A/C car so not on the fiberglass inner fender). Two questions:

    1. There is a wire which originates from the wiring harness with a loop end terminal which is ground and is currently attached to the VR base in a separate hole on the top with a separate screw (SEMS which I'm sure is not right). My Judging Guide which is not current says the ground would be under the top mounting screw. Is that still correct?

    2. My three VR mounting screws are "E" indent head sheetmetal screws with a blount end and have a thread cutting groove. They certainly could have been replaced and wrong. What should these screws be?

The screws you describe threading into the steel core support sound correct. Yes, the ground wire s/b black.

Alan Drake pointed out to me awhile back that the 64 AIM page for VR mounting is really for 65 and shows mounting on the fender, hence I can't see how to mount the wire and my first question above. I would appreciate someone confirming that it should be under the top mounting screw.

The 64 if it has the fiberglass crude cover up of the holes with bonding material, the regulator would mount on the core support.

Gene - thanks for your help but I don't think you read the question correctly...I'm just asking about the black ground wire.

Thanks Alan. I fixed mine. My only issue is that you can see where the screw "threaded" the unused hole.

Can you tell me if your mountging screws have the cutting slot?

And here is a virgin hole. I think the screws used in that area are all 9415499 BT style, Cad or Zinc finish.
That info is from the 63AIM sec 12 s A8.00, but only shows one screw. On my 64 that appears to be what was used.
If you think a 64 is work you -- the 63 guys had changes happening throughout the year.

                  April 63 car.

Not sure it matches the AIM but this is what I did.

Thanks a lot guys. I have the BT so I'm good. I don't have the capacitor because I don't have a radio but otherwise I look just like you.
