Re: miss in 340 hp '62

    Thanks, Richard.
No shields but resistances check out at least with engine cold or only warm after sitting to get cool enough for me to get to plug ends. Could resistance increase at operating temp? Remember, no problem till recently. Think this probably fuel problem though ignition is usually the culprit, but think I've checked electrical thoroughly in this case.

Rich, Those are for a 340 Chrysler. You should use our low ohm HP set that have the correct boots & lengths.

        I'm a bit confused.....340 Chrysler?????

Zip sells them for Chevy small blocks. Is there an error in their description? Please check their link. If there's a error I'll call them and tell them. I've used 3 or 4 sets in the last few years and they fit properly.

I'm looking at their C-1 catalogue as I type this & they do not list the AC Delco set any longer. There was always 2 wires that were too long in the AC 508N set to accommodate the Chrysler set up, i.e., Delco listed 1 set for both apps to reduce part #s (a common practice).

So, what's a correct length set? By whom? Part number?

Taking a long shot here. Was the counterweighted secondary air valve present and accounted for when you removed the air horn?

Check the Zip catalogue for listings.

Okay thanks, I'll have to try a set on the next project.

So....M3962 is the low ohms/ft set, and M3907 is standard ohms/ft?

I'm trying to understand the cost difference.

What type of gasoline are you using? Old fashion 108 leaded race fuel will awaken this 54 year old engine. Fuel Injection cars are having problems with the enthnol laced fuels.

You may want to get access to an exhaust analyzer . It will read HC and CO under all rpm conditions and tell the story quickly to trained eyes. Add a dyno where you can check under load, and all the mystery will be revealed.

SPARK ADVANCE may also be a problem in your distributor, as your power drops off at 3500RPM

Always like to give a followup in hopes it will help another member with same problem.
Turns out miss was caused by water in gas. Put bottle of "HEET" in tank along with some gas of know good quality. Problem solved; no more miss. Think I got the water in a tank full of non ethanol premium at a station where hardly anybody buys it.
Also, if you change the fuel filter of the glass bowl type, be SURE the gasket in properly in place before buttoning up. Don't ask me how I know . Could have gone up in flames before I promptly corrected leak.
