    Part # question

I have rear end which has a casting # of 3876476-N which is a late 65 all 66 casting. The question is the stamp on it is AK 420 65?
The book says there should be a letter for the assy plant.
    Thanks,
    Jeff

Jeff --- I'm surprised that nobody has replied in the 36 hours since you've posted. Probably because carrier casting numbers and dates are not judged. I used to own a '65 convertible VIN 16524 with differential assembly code AM_4_2_65, so probably very close you yours. Which book are you referring to that calls for a plant code ?

I have two late July '65 assy, BB diffs ( FA 7 15 65, and FB 7 21 65) and they are both "...476" castings and neither has the "W" (Warren MI plant) identifier. . Neither does an AU 5 17 67 carrier I use as a door stop . But an October '68 carrier I have does have the W suffix (2AL 10 26 W), in a ...143 casting.
