    Coker Redlines

I’m aware of the bad rap Coker tires have had in general. I also remember the problems associated with bias ply, nylon cord tires - hard ride, flat spots etc. But, I’m wondering if anyone has recent experience with Coker’s Firestone/Super Sports/Redline/7.75-15 (SKU 597034) tires, and can provide specific feedback?

I really like the retro look of the Firestone bias ply redline and Coker appears to be only one producing them. My plan would be to mount them on my ’67 Rallye wheels.

Not my car in the pic but similar and the look I'm going for. Thanks in advance for the feedback.

    Re: Coker Redlines

I have a set of Coker BFG 670 15 on my 63 for judging purposes only. They are almost impossible to balance due to poor construction. I don't know who makes the tires for Coker it is my understanding they bought the rights to the repro tires from the manufacturers I don't think any of the bias tires are actually made by the original manufacturers so it may not matter which tire you select as far as quality goes.

Goodyear redlines from Kelsey are the only ones I know that are decent for both ride and judging. FWIW.

I agree. If I were buying a reproduction tire, the Kelsey Goodyear reproductions are the only ones I'd use. These tires used to be manufactured by the Kelley-Springfield Division of Goodyear. I don't know if they still are, though.

          Re: Coker Redlines

We drive our cars and every Coker redline either had the sidewalls crack or the tread separated so no more Cokers here. The Kelsey Goodyear tires would get my vote also.

I agree 100%, I just got done driving my 67 to the North Central Regional 900 mile round trip on Mr. Kelsey's Goodyear Redline tires with ralley wheels and I was extremely surprised at how well they drove at 70 MPH. I ran the tire pressure at 30psi and I had zero problems with them, I would buy these again in a heart beat. My redline radial Coker tires are on my bolt-on wheels that I use for no judging events.

I think that is what all of us have been recommending thru-out this thread. Go to the Kelsey website and checkout their Goodyear Power Cushion redline in 775-15. I believe it is the same. Then it is just a matter of best price and customer service for purchasing/buying.

Thanks to all who responded. I also got a nice note back from John Kelsey (NCRS #85) in response to a few questions I submitted through their website. Problem solved - I placed an order today for a set of Kelsey Goodyear Power Cushion Red Stripe 775/15's.

Inquiring minds/mind would like to know, how much for the tires or per tire? Thank you, Jack Jagello (34474)

I believe the Kelsey website has the prices shown. I know the Summit website has prices.

Or you could call John Kelsey for a personal quote.

The Kelsey website shows the current price but does not include shipping. I purchased through Summit at a little higher per tire price but didn't have to pay shipping. I also plan to have Summit mount and balance them on their Hunter GSP9700 balancer - hopefully, it will detect any tire issues that may exist.

Replies from many respected posters> Thanks. Little confused though, are the Redline Kelsy/Goodyears what Coker sells? Are they appropriate for my 62? If they could have been ordered on a 62 I would like them. Am not as hung up on judging, rather have good tire that looks right for the year.
