Re: '67 Rally Wheels
Mike,
Your DG wheels are correct for your car, Corvette had 3 stampings, B early 67, DC mid 67, DG mid to late 67. Your date codes match up to your car, your good to go......

Re: '67 Rally Wheels
Wendel Hans (# 13085) wrote an excellent story in The Restorer a few years back about the use of the 1967 Rally Wheels.I’m finally getting around to re-finishing my rally wheels. After removing the old tires, I’m able to look at the date codes for the first time. I have 4 wheels stamped DG at the valve stem hole, all with 15X6 JK and date codes of 2 67 stamped on the inside. The 5th wheel is stamped DC and 15X6 JK and 4 67. The car build date is May 19.
After reading “Authenticating 1967 Rally Wheels,” am I correct to assume the 4 DG wheels are most likely not original to my car? Or, have there been other cases of later cars found with DG wheels dated 3 months before car build? The one DC wheel dated 4 67 is a good fit per the article.

Re: '67 Rally Wheels
Mike, based on the Restorer Article mentioned here, the DG wheels may be a bit early for your car. The Article has information on known original 67s and the dates on the cars' Rally Wheels. Of course this is not conclusive, being such a small sample, but the information in the Article does present a pattern in regard to the wheels' dates and VIN #s. The DC wheel dated 4 67 is a good fit as you noted per the Article.- Top

Re: '67 Rally Wheels
Mike - I understand that DG is a correct stamp for a '67 rally wheel but because of Wendel Hans article saying they appeared on Jan thru mid-Mar Corvettes, I was suspect that they may not be original to my May built car.
Hector - I agree, the DG wheels on my car don't appear to be typical according to the article.Mike, based on the Restorer Article mentioned here, the DG wheels may be a bit early for your car. I guess I was wondering if there were any other reported cases of cars built in May (of later) having DG wheels? Windel's article doesn't appear to support them being original to my car.- Top

Re: '67 Rally Wheels
Mike,
Don't be so fast writing the wheels off as NOT being correct for your car. I would ask myself what's more likely, loosing the original wheels and someone installing a stamped DG wheel vs. these wheels being the actual original wheels. I would think the latter, that these are original.- Top

Re: '67 Rally Wheels
I would agree with Tim. It's possible that a large quantity of wheels were simply stored in a warehouse and the likelihood exists that DG wheels sat around for a few months and then got installed on the car.
I'm confident that St Louis didn't care which wheels got installed, as long as they were appropriate for the build. The spare is a DC, and the road wheels are DG. I think that is indicative of reality. My vote is DG as a definite possibility for a May car.
As far as judging is concerned, the road wheel stamps are covered by the trim rings, so I don't think it would be a deduct anyways.
