Does anyone have or know of a description of the procedure to adjust a C1 convertible top frame. After restoring a 62 frame we reinstalled it with new weatherstripping to align with the side windows. The fit looks great and doors open and close great but the front bow hits the latch of the convertible top cover when trying to lower it into the storage compartment. We are working with a bare frame with the fabric removed. Looking for suggestions on Adjustments to get the front bow to clear the storage compartment latch.

Re: C1 Convertible top frame adjustment procedure
Greg,
Make sure the decklid springs are not sagging. If they are okay, then you may have to go through the entire frame adjustment procedure again to find the "sweet spot" to clear the header from the decklid latch pin. This is a common problem on these frames. It's NOT a exact science.
It's really a trial and error process to get everything set. The idea is to get the frame header bow to fold as soon as possible as the frame is being lowered. This helps keep it away from the latch pin. The inner articulating arms and their adjustments are the items in the mechanism which helps do this.
When I adjust, I place a 2x4 block(on the flat) along the windshield header under the frame header, then I set the inner articulating brackets so that the side frames(above window) stay flat/level. I then tighten the lower bolts snug, then pull or push the top of the bracket to get the sideframes flatter and rigid. Then I tighten the top bolts and then the bottoms. I remove the 2x4 block so when the header comes all the way down onto the windshield frame, it keeps it in a bind to keep the sideframes flat. Then lower and test fit the frame into the well. Back and forth until the sweet spot is found.
Attached is a pdf of a soft top related document I did a while ago. It won't specifically solve your problem, but it may have some clues. Page 10 discusses some of the adjustments when test fitting.
