Can someone help me with finding yellow brushable w/s adhesive other than 3m. There use to be a guy in the Driveline that advertised he had such a product but I have never used it or have a contact # for him ?

What's wrong with the 3M product?

By the way, the original adhesive was NOT clear when originally applied. It was yellow and became yellowish-brown with age.

          I agree with Joe.
And to answer another question the 3 M yellow is very hard to spread. That's putting it mildly.

            Keith,
            I agree.
I've talked to more one 63 plant worker who said it was not visible when applied.

I have seen plenty of old pictures in color with doors open to know I don't see glue smeared everywhere

As poor as it was applied I do not think that GM quality control would allow for that amount of yellow glue to show. I believe Bob when he says it was clear.

I have owned my 1969 since new. I can tell you, for certain, that there was obvious yellow adhesive present in areas adjoining weatherstrip. It was very obvious and I remember it quite well.

The adhesive used for all Corvette weatherstripping was "neoprene solvent cement". 3M weatherstrip cement is a "neoprene solvent cement". I would not be the least surprised if 3M was the supplier of the cement originally used by GM.

By the way, if you wish to use the adhesive in a way that none is visible when the weatherstrip is installed (as you presume original GM quality control would have insisted on), then it does not matter what color adhesive you use----no one will see it, anyway.

I thought the latest consensus was that DAP WELDWOOD was about as close as you could get to the correct look .

There should be lots of references to it in the archives .

Hello, have found "Goodyear Pliobond" sold at most better hardware stores to be a good product. it comes in a 6oz ??? bottle and it has an applicator brush. i have used it for over 30 years and it will withstand years of use without separating from either of the attaching surfaces. any unused remainder will store for a period of up to 6 months but i would discard it after kept any longer. inexpensive and excellent adhesive quality.yellowish/tan/brown in color.

I second the Pliobond glue. Used on a '65 and it has a carmel color. I found mine at Aircraft Spruce Air & Specialty Co. www.aircraftspruce.com.

I've also used Pliobond. Of the products I've used, in my opinion, it comes closest to resembling the look of the original adhesive. That and Wellbond Contact Cement, which I also like can be purchased at Ace Hardware. If you're into fly fishing, Pliobond serves a dual purpose and can be used on your line knots.

I have used Al Knock brushable contact adhesive. It is light yellow in an Al Knoch labeled can, but is made by Weldwood. It is not as yellow as the 3M stuff in the tube.
