I've owned the same '67 L36 original motor A/C couple for 26 years. I bought it in 1990 to flip and make some $$, but never got around to the selling part. My original body on restoration included replacing the radiator core and have not had any temp issues. SB C2's are great cars as well, but to the pre-disposed 427 crowd, there is no substitute for the sound and smell of a BB.

I drove my 427/390 horse roadster to the shop where a big group meets on Saturday. It is a 40 mile round trip and it was 96 degrees on the way home. I put the top up, but the ride both ways was pure joy. I hopped in a 1967 L79 yesterday for a drive and it's completely different, kind of like an agile sprinter. Both very cool cars.

Gents: I have been searching since June and have located a 1967 427 - 435; 4-spd. Tuxedo Black coupe with side pipes. I have only seen pictures, yet, I know the guy and he is legitimate. It's a California vehicle and has been in his private collection for the past decade. The fellow is well off and in no rush to sell, yet, I sense I can buy it for approximately $150K. Any thoughts on purchasing this would be appreciated (e.g., how is this vehicle to live with, will value rise, etc.). Many thanks for any thoughts. Best, Ned

Looks like you have been given a ton of advise on the last questions you asked (how vehicle is to live with, value increases, etc.). Just remember a seller can be legit, but that has nothing to do with the car, it has to be thoroughly inspected and documentation and paperwork checked completely to verify it all and you get no surprises about it after purchase.

Agreed. Tracking down an inspector now. Don't even know if it's the L71 or the L89.

If you can get Tim Gilmore to look at it (he's in the Austin area), I think you'd have some very educated eyes looking at it for you.

Just re-read your post...California car. Is it still in California??

Finding that out would be a good place to start. Don't get me wrong, the owner can be the most truthful and stand-up guy in the world, but I have found some don't know their cars well and rely on what previous owners told them, so you have to have an independent evaluation, experienced '67 BB NCRS people would know.

Oh, BTW, since only 16 L89s were made in '67, it would be a screaming bargain if real.......

What condition is the car in? If the car is a legit black car with original drivetrain with real docs showing that it's a documented side pipe car and you can get it for 150k, you should jump on it. If you pass, let me know and I will pay you a finders fee.

                      Ned,

There are many stories about 1967 BB cars that there are more on the show circuit than ever built. Probably true that more have been manufactured in garages and shops than GM ever built.
A true story of a 1967 L89 comes to mind. A 67 L89 being shown at a venue in Tennessee and the owner was told it was not real. Later that day he showed me pictures when he found it in a junk yard clearly showing the Tri power set up and the aluminum heads. Also showed me pictures of the tank sticker still on the tank. Judges are not always right and those 1967 BB cars are out there that the General built!

You can't beat a new Corvette for long distance driving, no vintage one is even close.

Gentlemen "Collector Corvette/Touring Corvette" is a oxymoron and has been since the invent of the C5 and later Corvette

Gents: Here is the ad from 10 years ago when this fellow purchased it.

367U..1967 Corvette Coupe, 427-435 hp, 4 speed, numbers match, 51,687 actual miles. Tuxedo Black paint with Red stinger and Black interior. Very rare color combination (the real deal) as only 815 total Black Corvettes were produced in 1967 and only a few Black 435 hp cars exist! Body on restored with newer paint, interior, chrome, stainless, exhaust, and tires... super sharp and super rare!!! Optioned with factory side exhaust, leather, M-21, posi, F-41 special heavy duty suspension, SS brakes, AM/FM radio, tinted glass, rallys, and 7.75x15" red stripe tires. Most all factory correct components including the spare, jack, jack tools, seat belts, washer system, clear floor mats, braided wires, shifter, shielding, and air cleaner. Documented with the original tank sticker... in car! Looks, runs, and drives excellent
