Northern NJ Repair Shops Specializing in Older Cars

    63 327/340 4-speed posi

Sometimes you just don't want to tackle a job because it's too complicated, or you lack the tools, require a high-lift, etc. Looking for a few good recomendations for specialized shops in Northern NJ.

Also, anyone have any experience with Hibernia Auto Restoration? They have been around forever and must be doing something right

What type of repair work is required? Mechanical, Electrical, Body repair/Paint? Or a full restoration? Yes, Hibernia has been around for a long time. They mostly specialize in full restorations of antique cars.

      A few projects.

Bought the 63 in January. 105,000 miles. Runs great, no known mechanical issues, strange noises, vibrations, etc

1 Service to 4-speed and posi. No issues with either but would like to change fluids and replace gaskets on trans due to some slight leakage
2 Full coolant flush - the correct way
3 Replace rear leaf with Eaton Detroit 9-leaf - car is sagging about 1-1/2 in rear. The original spring may or may not be a candidate for re-arching so I ordered the new one from Eaton and will send out the original once it is out of the car. I have a Quick Lift but I am a bit nervous about dealing with the spring tension.

4 Other things not required right now such as front and rear alignment, brakes, etc.

I'm not a prima-dona and have done a lot of work on the car already it's just a question of knowing my limits and staying out of trouble. I know that any garage or specialty repair center can do the above work, but I would prefer to deal with an establishment that is familiar with the do's and don't with these older cars.

        Tom,

Not trying to be a wise guy , but because of your low number of uses , I thought I might point out that there are two posts underneath yours that have a few recommendations . Just didn't know if you knew about the Similar Threads feature.

No offense taken. I had seen those and read through them as well. Only one of those references was located in Northern NJ with the others roughly 2-3 hours away so not a good option or me.

The last "similar" was actually a good idea and dealt with member references buy State. But it looks like it was shot down at the time do to concern from NCRS that anything posted on a state by state basis would be construed as a NCRS endorsement. Respect that decision however there are many instances of members highly recommending services that for whatever reason aren't viewed as a conflict of interest.

I own my own business so I tend to look at things from a cost / benefit viewpoint. If NCRS took that original suggestion and solicited Driveline advertising from those establishments it could actually benefit NCRS and more importantly the membership. I've used some of the vendors in Driveline with good results but they are typically for parts or restoration services and not shops that specialize in fixing Vettes.
