Gents: I sense that I am treading into deep water with this comment (as Long Island Corvette is an NCRS Sponser), yet, we're all family members here. Consequently, I offer this comment solely with the intent of helping out fellow Corvette folks. I have called Long Island Corvette three times to purchase parts. The first time went OK, however, the latter two times I had to "abandon ship" and not proceed with the tranaction due to their rudeness. It really blew me away a bit - since they (in theory at least) rely on customers to stay in business. I conduct business with folks from across the globe (e.g., Azerbaijan, UK, Middle East and several U.S. States) and I always treat folks with courtesy and respect as it seems to be universally welcomed and is a long-standing business best practice. The Long Island Corvette representatives I spoke with couldn't have been more bothered to take the orders (each totalling well over $200.00) and was super short and rude. It was disappointing; and I work too hard for my $ to spend it with these folks. Caveat Emptor. I understand from a friend on Long Island that the President of Long Island Corvettes is nice fellow which is great to hear; but, as a fellow business man, I recommend that he make some personnel changes to the folks that answer his telephone lines. Best, Ned

Re: Long Island Corvette - Yikes
Ed, it is a common issue with LIC and many feel the same, phone manners and the cust is always right is not the theme. They are about the only game in town for mid year guys and stock just about everything in there catalog. maybe its the New York manners ( bold and brassy)??.New England chapter member, 63 Convert. 327/340- Chapter/Regional/national Top Flight, 72 coupe- chapter and regional Top Flight.- Top

Re: Long Island Corvette - Yikes
I have been buying parts for 30 years from them (and i am not talking one or two items a year , we are talking alot of parts ). They by far have the best supply of mid year parts bar none. There are never any back orders ( almost never), the parts are shipped same day no waiting . If you want someone to "chit chat" with maybe they aren't the ones , but personally i just want to get my parts and not wait weeks for back orders to come in like some of the other venders out there .i look up the parts and fax the order to them any they are at my door in a couple of days . Just my 2 cents worth .- Top

Re: Long Island Corvette - Yikes
Edmund,
I have spent about 10K with them and am treated the same as you. As Ed said, they are about the only game in town and stock about every thing.
I finally had to do it on the net. They sent the wrong part (rear mount) and would not listen to my comment that they had the wrong part # on the box and that would cause a bunch of heart burn and time for the installer. I also got the wrong headliner and didn't catch the mistake in time to return it. The plastic backing on the headliner broke into 100 pieces while sitting on the shelf. The quality of some parts is questionable as ALL the rubber boots crumpled and the car has never been started or out of the shop. The shifter boot (2nd) rotted in the package before I could install it.
I will still buy from them after checking elswhere first. Sad that we have to kiss a?? to buy parts.

Re: Long Island Corvette - Yikes
Paul,
You are one of the lucky ones, but it's not "chit chat" that I do with them and maybe so not Edmund either. It was just a order that was large and questions had to be asked about some items. I was told more than once that the orders needed to be done on the net. I think their attitude is not one of a thoughtfull vendor who values their customers.

Re: Long Island Corvette - Yikes
All: Thanks for the responses. I guess that it simply "is what it is" with Long Island Corvette. Sorry to be a downer (and I have enough friends already, thus, I can assure you I was not looking to "chit chat"), but, I'm passionate about the hobby and just calling it like I see it. This Texan plans on using another vendor fro my Corvette parts. Enough said. On a more positive note, I worked on my cars this weekend (1966 C2, 1971 455 GS; and 1969 GTO). I've got say, the C2 is the most fun and the best engineered. Those men and woman that pulled that iconic 1963 - 1967 series together really created one heck of a vehicle. Good fun. Have a great week fellows. Best, Ned- Top

Re: Long Island Corvette - Yikes
Since we are talking vendors here - I am surprised by the "they are the only show in town" and "have almost everything C2" comments about LIC. I've purchase a few items from LIC and have not had a problem but I buy almost all my stuff from Paragon. Sales reps could not be nicer and more helpful on the phone. Had to return a few items - no problem at all. I do not recall a back order situation ever and they ship the same day. And...... they give a 10% discount to NCRS members. Am I missing something here? What is it that LIC is believed to have over Paragon or others that makes it worth while to put up with their poor disposition?Ed- Top

Typical reproduction junk. Not just with Corvettes. The Trifive Chevy Rubber stuff sucks too.
Poor quality, does not fit, configuration is all wrong, color not even close, too big, too small, wrong texture, does not work, does not work correctly, holes don't align up, poor finish, wrong finish, stopped working, does not judge well, fell apart, the list goes on and on of reproduction parts in all aspects. BUT there are a few very good reproductions available. The Dewitts radiator comes to mind as a good product. My saying is always attempt a restoration on the original parts vs looking at reproduction.- Top

Re: Long Island Corvette - Yikes
Hi Edmund - I have been buying parts from LIC since the 80"s - My main reason for doing so is that nothing more that I hate is to order 30 items and have half of them on back order. I would say that they are very business like in the way they operate. I am sure they may be shutting the doors as we speak. What do I know anyway - I am one of those bold & brassy Jersey guys. By the way, this weekend I enjoyed my cars. At my age I bought a 2015 vette last year - looks like we both will not be buying from LIC in the future. Good luck.- Top

Re: Long Island Corvette - Yikes
I've had the same experience. Never a problem, but every order was placed online. I don't need to chit-chat, I know what parts I want and simply want them shipped in a timely manner. As far as them being rude, I've found that to be the case with every seller in New York. Try calling any one of the camera suppliers based there.- Top

Re: Long Island Corvette - Yikes
I bought many parts from LICS prior to my car being judged last January. Most orders were online; two sets of orders were over the phone. I had a list of the parts by number and went through the list one-by-one with the rep each time....I think I had one question on one of the orders about a '63 only part that was answered swiftly but abruptly. Everything went fine. They don't play around and don't expect you to do so either.
I've driven to Eckler's and waited a painful length of time at the counter while some dweeb agonized over a purchase and clearly wanted to chit-chat about his car with the counter clerk and had no clue what to purchase. Aggravating...and a worse experience IMO..- Top
