    C2 storage compartment paint color

Section 12 on page 34 of the Judging Guide (6th edition) states the following regarding the two small storage compartments behind the seats and under the Masonite / carpeted board: "The interior of the storage compartments are painted a low gloss and coordinated with the carpet color".

The interior of my '64 convertible is dark blue & has dark blue carpets. Is there a preferred or recommended paint product (brand & color) to use for this application?

I have a few cans of dark blue dye that I acquired from one of the better know vendors (either LIC or Paragon... I forget which I got it from) that I used on my radio side kick panels and speaker grill. I would say it is a satin sheen (they probably called it low gloss back in the day). Would this be acceptable for the storage compartments?

Also - the fixtures or hooks on the driver's side for the spring that holds the jack in place - what color should they be? Are they installed before or after spray painting the compartments to match the carpet?

Thanks in advance to all that respond.

Ed yes you are correct on the low gloss sheen. interior paint is what I used for my 63. jack spring should not be painted with interior color.

      Ed,

Thanks for confirming the use of interior paint. I know not to paint the removable gloss black "spring" and unfinished metal hook that is attached to it. What about the two small devices that are secured to the fiberglass floor that the spring is attached to? Do they get painted dark blue or are they installed after painting? If after, what color should they be?

Ed, I can tell you that I painted those parts, not sure if its correct, But my 63 has been through judging twice and nothing said, and about to go to the nationals in R.I.

Hi Ed, I just restored my compartments and I also painted the tabs for the jack hook the same color. Judging interiors I have seen this often. Let's see how my car does in Rhode Island ?
