Okay, I've hinted around enough.
I love Corvettes. There, it's out. Surprised?
Perhaps you will be after this.

As much as I do love them, they are infinitesimally small compared to the friends I've made because of the hobby.
"Come for the cars; stay for the people" is a slogan in many car clubs. It's particularly true of folks in the NCRS. I do treasure my Corvette friends - people like Tom Young, Larry Cutshall, Marnie Carr; John Waggoner; Ron Stoner; Fred Neitzel; Stan Falenski; Chuck Berge...
I could go on, but you get the point.

This weekend I lost one of those friends. Ken Sleeper, our NCRS Indiana Chapter President, passed away suddenly this morning.
Ken was instrumental in getting our first regional meet in 2006 going. He did it again, 10 years later, this past April. I worked closely with him on the 2006 meet. Loved it.

More importantly, Ken helped get me out of my Corvette funk last year. I was weary; I'd reached a point where I considered giving up the NCRS hobby. The fact that I didn't do so is due in large part to Ken. I'm glad that I made sure to let him know that.
RIP, Ken. We're going to miss you.

So sad... I had a real good conversation with him in Minnesota.... Ken was so patient with me in my early days... I had the honor to work with him for the first time in Leavenworth Wa... 2007/8
