Don't they give the same tuning result, just obtained by different means ? I don't have a dwell meter (say 30-34 degrees spec), but I do have a feeler gauge (say 0.016", used points). I'll assume that the feeler gauge method involves more work.

In the early days, just about all of us used feeler gages. They work just fine, but take a bit of time to get the gap just right. However, I have always liked using a dwell meter, since my accuracy with a feeler gage is not always the best.............especially for distributors in the rear of the engine block and the engine still hot.
