69 lap belt bolt under carpet?

I'm installing new carpet on my 69 convertible and the old carpet was really bad. Does the carpet cover the lap belt bolt or is the bolt seen on top of the carpet? I can't tell from other posts. Thanks Jimmy

Hi Jimmy,
I believe the part of the fixed length belt that's in the plastic sheath is held in place by an exposed bolt.
But the adjustable end of the belt passes through a 'slit' grommet in the carpet that hides the bolt from view.

Thanks Al, so the male end lap belt bolt that screws through the middle of the floor pan is covered by the carpet?

As much as I respect you and enjoyed working with you this week, I must disagree here, Alan. The male end is is installed slightly behind the seat and is then routed through the grommet. The back portion of the floor carpet has to be lifted to see the Hamill tag and date code.

I should stay away from anything that's not a 71… or at least have the finger I type with broken.

Thank you for your comments. I will cover the bolt rather than cutting a hole in the carpet to install the bolt.
