1957 engine suffix code EL

I have searched the archives to no avail..... What does the EL code stand for, I think it is a 283 c.i. 283 hp fuel injection no air box, with Duntov cam and solid lifters and a 4 speed.....if that is not true, what does an EL code represent?

That's what the Specification Guide says. It looks like you are on the right track.

Dino, Tell us more about the pad. What's the date on the pad. Before the EL Engine code.
Look in the 57 judging manual also. Like Rick said in the spec guide. Give us the date and we may be able to tell you what FI unit goes with that engine. John

Yes. None were built, but I inspected a restamp "EN" about ten years ago.
