    63 Fan Shroud

I have what I believe to be the original shroud on my 63. It has a total of 7 welded cage nuts, 3 for each side and one on the top center. The one on the car has a large dent so I wanted to replace it.

I found a "NOS" online but it dose not have the welded cage nut on the top center. It does have a slotted hole that would allow for adjustment. It does look legit with no signs of a broken weld from a nut that may have come off.

It was listed as 1963 1964 1965 Corvette NOS 3829723

The AIM for 63 shows separate part number which end up getting spot welded to form the shroud.

I think its unlikely that individual pieces would have been sold for repair so would the above NOS be judge as correct?

I'm not a sheet metal guy but it might be worth having someone fix the original. I'm sure there is someone out there that can fix a dent for a reasonable cost and you know you have the correct part. The NOS one must be a pretty expensive item so it might not cost more to fix the original.

Its really more pronounced than a dent. In fact at one point I thought the deformaty was supposed to be there. It looks like someone dropped a 50 pound barbell weight on it. Its got a perfect radius and no scratches? The NOS was going to cost $450. The other option would have been to weld a new cage nut where the one was missing, but at price it should have been basically perfect.

I'd take it out and take it to a good body shop. You would be surprised what a good body (metal) man can do with a deformed piece of sheet metal.
