Going through all this is a very educational experience. It is both rewarding and very frustrating at times. Don't be afraid to ask questions on here.
As for the build sheet if it is still present, if you lower the tank I would take some very good pictures of it and leave it intact by preserving it, even if you need to replace your tank. Leave it as is, because it will surely fall apart when you try to remove it.

Thanks Jimmy, it definitely helps! Thanks for the tip on the JG and the sheets. I have a copy of Motorbooks Workshop Restoration Guide, and I have the AIM, Fact book, and one other on order (which I can't remember the name at the moment). Anyway, I'll check out the JG and sheets as well. My last few cars (not Corvettes) were hot rods, so original restoration/preservation is a new frontier for me. I look forward to the learning experience.

Beautiful car Mike! Nothing nicer than red with a white soft top. Looks like yours has a red interior too. It looks just like mine (from behind)except for the front chrome bumper & sidepipes. Thanks for posting the pictures.
