    Power Window Rebuild - Lubrication

    Folks:

Continuing on the '72 restoration project and currently rebuilding the power windows. Can someone tell me what kind of lubricant should be used for the guides/tracks? Also how about the latch mechanisms?

    Thanks,
    Roger

Corvette Central has a window rebuild how to on their web site that will help you. I tried to link but it didn't want to work.

I rebuilt my 72's LH window a couple of years ago. I only had white lithium spray grease so I used that and it worked fine but I had a film on the glass every time I closed it. It finally worn down or dried up so no more on the glass but it still works great. Used it on latch too.

If it were me, I'd use GM #12377985. You can also use this for many other applications. In fact, it's almost a "one-size-fits-all" lubricant as far as Corvettes go (except front wheel bearings).

White lithium grease is what was originally used, and I have used that when servicing the tracks. As Gary notes, don't get it on the glass.
