Has anyone tried putting together a log of engine casting dates/ assembly dates vs the assembly dates of 1959 vettes (or for that matter any of the C1 or C2 cars)? I'm sure this would be a mountainous task, but was just wondering , if it had ever been attempted? I know there used to be surveys requested on the earlier cars to help verify when production changes occurred, etc. or for RPO stuff. Just thought it might help identify some of the counterfeit engines out there, but with the wide range of dates and/or allowance for rework/repair of faulty engines at start-up on the assembly line, I guess there is a chance for the odd ball date that would truly be way off per the judging standards that was factory correct. I guess mainly what I'm looking for is a co-relation between a set # of cars within a particular serial # range with the casting/build dates of the blocks/engines also closely related so as to form a pattern.

Noland's Vol.II book ('63-'67) has LOTS of that engine survey data; don't recall offhand if his Vol. I ('53-'62) book has similar survey data or not.- Top

Unfortunately, Vol.1 has very little survey data and only lists 5 1959 cars with associated engine numbers. I can PM them to you Al if you don't have that info.- Top

!st, Engines are NOT FIFO; there's also probably no records about when Engines are delivered to the Engine room - and how many are left in the room when the new shipment arrives.- Top

Just curious as to how the dates and assembly dates matched up with the build dates on the cars with any particular patterns. Guess then, I should not even bring up the issue of fuel Injection unit serial #s.- Top
