    Center console compatibility question

I am trying to purchase a center console for a manual shift '66 without power windows. Repros seem to be difficult to find--everyone has them back ordered. I have located a nice '67 console but am unsure if it will fit. The only difference I have been able to find is that a proper '66 console has holes for the the seat belt storage bracket. Is that the only difference or are the some other differences (like dimensions, screw holes, clips) also?

    Thank you!

    Hi Henry,

What is wrong with the console you have? Could it be restored? I think your analysis of 66 vs. 67 center consoles is correct, but I am no expert!

    Good luck!
    Joe

Mine is an original Powerglide car and I'm installing a manual transmission. Auto console doesn't fit--going on the shelf with the Glide.

        Henry,

Food for thought - there are many threads that state repros (regardless of the vender) do not fit well, screw holes don't line up, etc etc. You may consider purchasing an OEM used one that needs a restoration (paint & chrome). For planning purposes I had my OEM console for my '64 rechromed for $350 (it was badly pitted) - it came out great. Then I had to paint the simulated grain section in the center, new shifter plate & pattern, and ashtray door. All totaled, I have about $450 in my console - but it is original and it fits perfectly. Hope this info helps in your decision cycle.

I know for my '69 center console with auto trans, I was told that correct repros are not manufactured and it's best to self restore

            Hi Henry,
If you are not going to use the 67 console please PM me. I am changing over a 67.
            Kind regards,
            Pete
