Comfort weave seats. Whose are the best - 1972

Thinking about a winter project. Actually my covers aren't bad foam is flat. Also wondering if they can be reused and refoamed?

As far as I know, there are no reproduction Corvette seat covers which use real Comfortweave seat insert material. The original Comfortweave material was an actual woven vinyl whereas I believe the reproductions use a vinyl with an impressed pattern to appear like Comfortweave. If I'm incorrect on the reproduction I'd be pleased to know.

      Thanks Joe.

I was was afraid of that. May see if I can carefully remove the old covers. No rush though.

Removing the seat covers is no problem, at all. However, I don't know that removal nad replacement of the muslin-covered, sewn-on, foam padding is practical. The problem is that due to the woven nature of the original Comfortweave, perspiration gets down into the padding and rots the foam. Then, the rotted foam works its way up through the woven vinyl on a continuous basis and creates a constant dust in the car.

You are correct, they are a pressed pattern. I used Eckler's replacement covers; my old ones were not salvageable. I had seat covers, door trim and windshield trim done and it turned out great. But, my car is not a show car so absolute originality was not a problem for me.

The closest I've seen was a few years ago on one of Ken Lingenfelter's new Trans AM recreations, i.e. 5th Gen Camaro converted to look like a Trans Am.

It had the right look AND it had holes in it. Some day I'll remember to ask and see where they got the material.
