TI wires from distributor to the harness plug

    Guys,

I had the white wire with the green tracer and the white wire break off at the male connector. I am considering different ways to repair this (I don't like hacked up wiring harnesses). With the distributor in the car it is hard to get to the broken wires so I am considering pulling the distributor and installing new wires from the distributor to plug, but how are the these wires connected to the distributor? Is this a waste of time? Should I just suck it up for now leave the distributor in the car and struggle to strip enough insulator off the wire? Once stripped add wire with a butt connector giving me enough wire to work with in order to be able to plug into the harness? Looking for some suggestions/ideas.
    Are these wires 20 gauge?

    Thanks

    Lawrence

Lawrence, The wires end up at the pickup coil, internally soldered to the internal windings, so you cannot go back that far with new wire. However, in a pinch once I repaired a pickup coil wire where it was internally soldered to the micro-wire inside the coil.

You might be able to splice in new wires, or it may be better to use new male terminals on the existing wires. They're special terminals though, which have side locking tab edges to be captured inside the plastic housing. To remove them you have to push the side of the terminal to free it from the housing.

Regardless, take note of the orientation of the 2 wires to the connector. The TI diagram in the CSM has the color codes. Also HERE.
