    63 hood block question

I'm 99.9% certain my May '63 coupe has the original hood - NO hood blocks but it does have round plugs in the holes for the hood block nut plates. I came across a late '63 hood that is smooth in that area - no holes, no plugs, smooth as a baby's but and it doesn't look like anything was filled in. I'm a bit confused...

Is this correct ? Its not really addressed in the JG...

So what's your concern - your car or a comparison of the two hoods? Back in 1981, following the article, I had 4 or 5 reports on cars in the 17K production range with the two rear hood guides. Your Smooth hood could be Early (B4 6XXX0), Late (Post18XXX) or even one built for Service in 1963-4.

My mid May 63 has 2 blocks and all 63's that I have seen around my serial number also have 2 blocks so I believe it to be correct.

Frank, i beieve that the JM spells out the vin break dates, but would say there is surely some lead way either way. the hood blocks are confusing. from 0 to 2 to 4 then to 2 and none i believe that's how they went.

Yes - my observation was that my correct "no block" hood was plugged for the block nut plates and this other hood was smooth where mine has plugs and obviously a '63 hood as well. My working assumption is that at some point in late production they just entirely stopped the nut plate holes and plugs for "no block" hoods.

The JG (yes I did my homework) does discuss the VIN breaks for 0,2,4,0 block variants but not the issue with the plug vs no-plug latest hoods.
Just thought it interesting; nothing more and trying to learn what I can..

Frank, some where in the archives there was a post talking about the smoothed over,or recessed holes in hood, and even some with nut plates and rivits with no holes drilled through the Fiber glass.
