Handle for hood release cable pulled off. Second time this has happened. I can probably use a roll pin to hold the handle but wondering if the "pull" is too hard causing the problem. Any ideas on how to reduce pull force required to open hood?

Re: 1961 hood release cable
Joe: I soak the cables with WD40 then work the cables back and forth till you have a smooth motion. Make sure the latch mechanisms are lubed and not binding also make sure there is no kinks or sharp bends in the cable routing. hope this helps.steve- Top

Steve is correct. After I lubed the inside of the cables, I clamped on the end of the cable bundle under the dash with vice grip pliers and worked the cables in and out until they worked smoothly, then used super glue to reattach the handle.- Top
