I have a 1966 C2 Corvette with a 327/300hp motor date Code of CE8 63793. Can someone advise what the CE stands for? Counter Exchange motor? Also, the motor's casting number is K 30 7, which I think means Nov 30, 1967? Thank you. GH

Thanks Bob...this does help. I was told that the motor was replaced by GM in early 1967. Greg- Top

Re: 1966 C2 Engine Codes
Yes, ''CE'' is the service replacement. Casting date K 30 7, is as you say November 30, 1967. So it was probably replaced at the dealership in the winter of 1967-68.
I think CE8= 1968 replacement, sequence # 63793, which if we had the work order from the dealership would confirm when and what dealer received the short block. Chances are your original heads and intake and carb and accessories were re-installed. Are you sure your car was a 300hp at birth? What is the tach redline?Over 80 Corvettes of fun !
