I'm a little confused as to how the headlight switch is attached to the dash. The AIM page L158 shows the switch; a "ferrule" otherwise known by the vendors as a headlight switch nut; a spacer (GM 3717299) and then finally the headlight knob/rod assembly. I don't seem to have the spacer and the vendors only sell one for a 1956-1957. Was one used on the 1960? I also have the headlight switch nut/ferrule but I also have a threaded nut with notches that I saved from the disassembly. It threads onto the ferrule/headlight switch nut. Was this used at all?

What you show in your picture are the same parts that are on my 1960 switch which I replaced about a month ago.- Top

Re: 60 Headlight switch assembly
Thanks Nicholas. Where does the smaller threaded nut fit into the assembly? It is not shown on the AIM. Does it go between the switch and the rear side of the dash?Keith MacRae

Re: 60 Headlight switch assembly
I don't think that smaller nut is not part of the headlight switch mounting. The 59 AIM is the same as yours and I don't have a spacer in there either, just the larger long nut. That smaller one looks like the one for the wiper switch. I'd be interested to know what they are calling a spacer since mine fits fine and does not have it either. Dan- Top

I bet that you're right Dan - the smaller threaded nut is probably for the wiper switch. I'm still puzzled why the AIM calls for a spacer and I don't believe that I had one originally. Can anyone else verify that there is no spacer on the 58-62 light switch?Keith MacRae

Re: 60 Headlight switch assembly
In the AIM, the FERRULE is the long threaded nut, ESCUTCHEON is the plastic LIGHTS piece that goes against the cluster.
A FYI....Be aware that some reproduction knob/shaft assemblies are not good. Some shaft ends won't snap into the switch and are a tad too short at the shaft. Even a small buildup of paint inside the cluster hole face makes them hard to install. The worst is a combination of repro switch and repro knob assy. I've had to lightly mill the cluster front and rear surface openings on several to get them to fit.
