1962 FI serial numbers

I have looked through the archives but could not locate a chart with 1962 VIN to 7017360 fuel injection serial number comparisons. Years back I thought I remembered seeing this data. My 62 has a 6/23/1962 build date. The serial number on my 7017360 FI unit is 2647. Does this correlation indicate that FI unit 2647 could be original to my car? I am selling the car and this question has come up many times. Thank you.

It's been a long time since I messed with this data. I lost the base due to a computer crash, but I have a copy of the graph. As you know, there are no hard and fast rules when it comes to Corvette issues. I ran manufacturing plants for over 30 years and know full well what happens on the shop floor. That being said, I use a rule of thumb concerning vin # vs. FI unit serial numbers for 62. It is vin (last 5 numbers) divided by 6 plus 1000. The resulting line on my chart hits a vast number of the units.
There are a significant number of units further off both sides of the line, some higher and lower. As usual, nothing is for sure.
The only upside to your situation is that the fuel unit appears to be mfg before your car. But then again no one that I know can tell when these units were actually made and I won't even guess about the material flow within the plant.
