Well, that is an ANCIENT part number. If it was ever available in SERVICE (which I doubt), it was discontinued prior to about 1956.

I can tell you this, though: other screws of this part number series which I can find were pan head, cross recess (phillips). I can't guarantee that the GM #450897 was, though.

I find some pn 450xxx bolts that were removed from service in the 1966 to 1971 period but not yours. Some were replaced and others just were removed. The only 450xx number left in the GM Standard Parts Catalog in 1982 was 450405. It is a 6-32 1/2" Fillister head cross recess screw, cad or zinc. I would suspect that all 450xxx screws were Fillister head.

thanks tom. i'm pretty sure the 450879 was a 1/4" coarse screw. like to know if clutch or phillips. thanks again, mike

450897 is a7/8 oval head cross recess taping screw type G nominal size 12, 24 threads per inch
