Re: 2017 FLA Winter Regional Registration opens.

One of the reasons we moved the event to Sun N Fun is there is 51 acres we can use including a open grill with plenty of seating and we also place picnic tables around for those who want to 'group' and tell tales (I am one of those, as those of you know me can attest to
.). As more people retire to Florida it has always been my hope that they will see our event as an opportunity to 'group' and recount old tales about the cars and people of our hobby.

I say the vin whatever it is should not be the deciding factor. If it has a valid registration with current plates then it should be considered for acceptance based on a content criteria.

      1. Is the body of 'fiberglass and recognizable as a Corvette. If yes 20 points
      2. Is the frame a corvette frame or a purpose built frame (Corvette Corrections etc.) to fit a corvette body. 20 points
      3. Is the suspension based on a corvette suspension, any year. 20 points
      4. Is the drive train corvette based to include any engine/transmission used in a corvette to include GM crate engines. 20 points
      5. Is the interior based on/use Corvette themed parts. 20 points
      6. Can any of the body modifications be attributed to touches found on a different C series the car is based on. 20 points

If the above sums to say 100 points the car is accepted for 'judging' as it has retained the essence of a corvette.

My take would be that a valid VIN or state issued replacement is necessary to prevent issuing awards to stolen vehicles.

I was at one Corvette event (not NCRS) where a C3 Corvette shown for sale had no VIN tag at all. To judge a Corvette with a non-authentic VIN would put us in the position of condoning theft and/or fraud.

I just called John and we found the problem. The schedule on our chapter website was inaccurate. I created a new copy of the schedule from the Driveline and attached it in my previous post.

                    Hotel Info & Promo Page

See attached. I made this last year so some rates may have changed.

FYI, Imperial Swan still has a $72 night rate and a block of rooms reserved for the NCRS event guests. Mention NCRS. If the desk gets confused, use the 4 letter name......You know what it stands for right?

Also attached is the Promo for other misc info re Street Rod Show, etc.

Re: 2017 FLA Winter Regional Registration opens.

My previous detailed "directions/Maps" post had some hiccups so I asked for it to be deleted for a fresh reset. Lots of info here. I will update and answer questions where applicable. If I don't have the answer I'll try to be the spokesperson to get it for you. I'm a rookie at this volunteer stuff with only a few years experience so please be patient with me.

Tyler and I reviewed the traffic & overall logistics of the event last night. We have RV's, Vendors, Trucks, Judged cars, Sportsman cars, Street Rods and Classics, Spectators, Campers, Tractor Trailers, Golf Carts and Mini-Shuttles to and from Parking Lots, etc to move around all 4 days so it can get a bit tricky. Tyler also mentioned we may have Handicap Access 3-Wheelers for Rent by a local vendor. More on that later. Safety and Security is extremely important and we all need that mindset when we're moving around the facility. Please be safe.

Also, when driving your Special High Performance or even a Base 230HP Corvette or Classic in and around the facility please refrain from aggressive driving behavior, (Burn-Outs, Street/Runway Racing, Simulated Highway Cruising, etc). We had a incident a few years ago when some Senior Citizen Teenagers were playing around attempting a Street Race on one of the Taxiways. We cannot tolerate that type of dangerous activity at this venue. Please save that for the Drag Strip elsewhere.

I made a few more documents to help understand internal layouts and directions within the facility. Our staff will help direct you and we have some signs to help, but because the flow can change daily we don't have the luxury of having big billboards for you to follow. If you're not sure, just ask one of the traffic directors. Sun N Fun is made up of over 50 acres of space for our event and we have limited traffic control personnel to help us. Some from our Chapter, and some from the Sun N Fun Staff to help too. If you come, and find yourself getting bored, see Tyler or myself and we'll put you to work somewhere.

It's a long way out but the weather forecast for at least Wednesday the 11th and Thursday the 12th predicts Sun and around 80* daytime high and the low 60's at night. Maybe the weather will be kind to us all this time.

Please see the latest attached (Schedule_2017.pdf) below for the details scanned from the Driveline. Your Online Registrations have this Schedule too.

Here it is in jpg for reference....

Please remember to enter the actual address of the Sun N Fun facility into your GPS device and NOT the Linder Regional Airport address. If you go to the Linder address it will take you approximately another 20 minutes to get to Sun N Fun entrance and you could miss some fun.
                      SUN N FUN
                      4175 South Medula Rd
                      Lakeland, FL 33811

                      General event times.
Wednesday: Vendor Entry, Judged Car Entry and Staging
Thursday: Additional Vendor Entry, Vendor Sales, Judged Car Operations Tests
Friday: Judged cars, Vendor Sales, etc
Saturday: Judged cars, Vendor Sales, Street Rod Show/Corvette Show

Please use caution near the main entrance as it's a wide curved Y-shaped intersection with fast moving traffic that may pass by. Please remember that most of us that control traffic do NOT wear steel-toed shoes. Come in slowly and make sure the traffic controller is aware of your presence. Last year I nearly got one foot run over.

Based on volume of traffic at the entrance, you will be directed to enter either the Main gate entrance(Black) or the Alternate Entrance(Orange). Both get you in. Saturday, non-member spectators will be directed to a paid Parking area to the left of the Orange entrance. Follow the waving arms and pointy hands of the traffic controllers. Note that this is a 4 day event and some of the Parking areas are subject to change based on day. Typically Saturday is the busiest day so plan on extra volume.

                      Here are some visuals....

                      Registered Members:
When you are in the facility on Dolittle Rd more traffic controllers will direct you. The NCRS Registration building will be to your right just after the Fedex Jet on display. Stop there to pickup badges as a Registered member. Registered Members will have specific parking areas until it fills up. If you are driving a Corvette there will be Corvette Only Parking available. This will be in varying locations during the Event days.

                      NON-Registered Members:
If you are NOT registered and joining the fun as a spectator you will be directed to the General Parking areas and must pay a small fee($ 5) to park. NO EXCEPTIONS. There is no fee to roam the vendor areas or Vendor Hangar A. To enter the Hangar B Judged car area, you may be required to pay a small fee. Please remember these events cost money and a little bit from everyone helps our cause.

                      Judged Car Entrants:
You should have your Judged Car packet and badges. If not, stop at the NCRS Registration building to pickup your packets. If your car is being trailered and you must stop, pull forward beyond the Registration Building off to the side to allow traffic to continue. After you get your goods continue on Dolittle road then left onto Sun N Fun Rd to the Trailer Parking area. There will be more traffic controllers to get you there. See map. Note that the Trailer parking area is for TRAILERS ONLY. You MUST remove your tow vehicle from the trailer and park it in the Permit Parking area. We will have Shuttle Carts to help you get around.

                      Vendors:

All Vendors proceed on Dolittle road to the hairpin left turn on to Sun N Fun RD and stop at the Vendor Desk (Building to your left) directly across from the Campground area. Please pull to the right of Sun N Fun road to keep other traffic moving. Pick up your vendor packets and you will then be directed to the Vendor field or Hangar A. See both maps below for space numbers, etc. Please have your windshield VENDOR PASS stickers clearly visible for the traffic controllers to see so they can get you in asap. If you have a 10 foot high truck we can't see them if they're flat on your dash facing the sky!

                      Judges:
Registered Judges have their own special Parking area. From Dolittle Rd take a left onto Tom Mack Dr/Voyager Path. It will be near the end to the right in the grass field. See Full Map.

PDF's of the following jpg images are also attached below for printing, magnifying, etc. Here are the latest maps(subject to change). Note this year Hanger B will be for Judged Cars and Displays etc. Hanger A is for Vendors this year.

                      Facility/Vendor Layout Map

                      Vendor Layout inside Hanger A

Here is a outline of our Parking options based on the day. This place is so big it takes some thought to make it work. We were recently notified that we can not use the large adjacent field for General Parking any longer. There's a grass airstrip there now and the FAA won't let us use it for parking. Tyler had to scramble to come up with a new parking plan. It's a bit complex as we had to juggle based on Event Day venue changes but here it is if you want to get a preview. I put this together yesterday and finalized this morning, but it may change. Text file attached below for printing.

                          Your Welcome Tyler.

That's a great way to get more folks to come......Everybody loves free stuff.

NEVER AGAIN? Ha, But some of us are gluttons for punishment. Me included! Remember last year when I took that black car into the Hanger? I felt like a cinder.....all burned-out.

If it wasn't for Bill Heron and his awesome fun attitude and hospitality, I think my brain would have exploded.

I reserved a RV parking spot with hook ups. Do you know where that is located at in relation to the other area on the maps you attached?

                              Hi Larry,

Tyler will have more info when he checks here as he brings his RV too and can fill you in on the logistic of entry etc. The campground is in the area where I show the "Overflow Corvette Parking Area" on the map.

The campground area is just to the right of and near the end of Sun-N-Fun Rd. When you come in the Main Gate on Dolittle Rd, go to the end, hairpin left on to Sun N Fun Rd, then near the end it'll be to your right. I believe you'll have to stop at the Building to the left of the Campground to Check-In. It'd be advised to pull to the right as far as possible to let others pass. A traffic person will be there at that intersection at all times.

For a driving tour and a look at the campground area see this video that I did 2 years ago when we had our Regional there for the first time. The campground is in view at about 50 sec in.
