1961 without carpet retaining screws - judging impact

My 1961 doesn't have any carper retaining screws nor is there any indication that there ever were. In talking to a retired St. Louis employee he said these screws and other interior screws such as the wire trays were sometimes not installed since the car needed to move down the line. What is the impact of these screws not being there? Do I just have photos, should I drill holes and install screws, OR?

I would leave it alone and take the pictures to judging if that is what you will be doing.

i didn't install carpet retaining screws in my 57's and the point deduct was minimal--i think a single point. i just didn't want to risk the carpet unraveling where the hole would be punched thru the carpet material.if u elect to install the screws, DONOT use a drill motor/drill bit to make the holes. use a leather punch to do so. the drill motor and bit will almost certainly unravel the pile in the carpet. mike

I'm just going to leave it alone and bring a picture with me. And yes - that carpet unravels easily - care is required. What's really funny is that I have some more slight discolorations mostly where one piece overlaps another. It's as if the backing is reacting with the loop material.
