    Re: Opinion on Engine stamp

Bob and others. I agree that no deduction would be made for that pad. The big thing is it's obvious it's not a restamp. Has nice broach marks too.
Love the pic of the stamps. When NCRS had a National in Warren, MI in old dayss the Flint Engine pad stamper told us the same info. They had many sets of stamps. Not all were the same.
Now "dip stick" was the national judging chairman then. He didn't like it that the Flint guy said if he messed up a pad and ground it off using the grinder that was hanging was his belt. Then hit the pad again any old way. We had a very comical reply from Dennis Clark that I will never forget.
He said something like: I suppose that now that guys have toured the Flint engine plant and see the fellow that ground off the pads when he screwed up and now think you can restore your cars and get away with crap like that. Well Dennis said it's just not going to happen as NCRS has a set of guide lines we go buy etc etc.
Can't finish the speech as forgot the wording. Maybe Dr. Mike can help me. JD

It was very rare at the time for an individual to get permission to take pics at a GM assembly plant.
Since the ST Louis plant was closing, he was allowed to follow frames and bodies from beginning to end and the completed car driven out the door.

Thanks Bob. That would make this picture around 1981. Interesting.
For some reason I thought that John Hinckley took this picture.
